President Yoweri Museveni has called on Members of Parliament in the country to always strive and educate wananchi on government development programmes. The President was addressing a gathering at Maro Awobi Primary School playground, Pabo Sub-County in Amuru district in Northern Uganda. Mr. Museveni travelled directly from Swaziland to Gulu where he performed the function of handing over keys of houses constructed by UPDF to families of NRM historicals that were murdered in cold blood in 1973 during the Idi Amin regime and those killed by Kony’s LRA banditry.“Now that we have peace and we are more organized, we are able to look back and help the people”, the President said.
Mr. Museveni narrated to the attentive and sorrowful gathering how he and 1st Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for East Africa Affairs, Mr. Eriya Kategaya, escaped the murderous security operatives of the Amin regime in Gulu.
He disclosed that the betrayal, by one Latigo with whom he stayed at Rex Hotel in Dar-es-Salaam, led to the death of NRM hostoricals in the Northern Uganda sub-region.
Present at the function was the Chief of the Defence Forces General Aronda Nyakairima and the leadership of Gulu Municipality.
